Safety and fun are important parts of horse ownership for our families. The Quarter Horse is known to have a mild tempered attitude (most of the time) and is athletically versatile. There are a lot of wonderful horses available in all price ranges and we work with what we have.

Every horse has not been successful for the rider, but we find a solution. Good advice from some very knowledgeable people, patience, and hard work have been on our side for the most part. One can never learn too much.

I must thank my husband who has been a horseman all of his life. Without his experience and support for our family and friends none of this would be possible!

Listed below are some horses we've worked with in the past and present. Each one was a different learning experience with all kinds of background in training.

Great Slidin Dry A New Start in 2003-2004
2004 - This horse is consistent in the show pen and doesn't lie about what he is going to do before you show him. He was qualified for the NERHA Affiliate Team in 2004 and Maureen purchased him to show in 2005.
2003 - Great Slidin Dry is a new gelding with us. He is quiet and forgiving. Let's see what the future will bring.

D'Nae Meyer, who had been working with us since 1998, found a wonderful opportunity as assistant trainer for Charlie Smith in Florida at the beginning of 2003.

Sugar Pop a.k.a. 7-Up by Vicks Enterprise (by BH Enterprise) x Soda Pop
Soda Pop is the dam of Jiffy Pop, NRHA Futurity finalist and NRHA Derby Champion ridden by Mandy McQuay. Soda Pop is a NRHA Top Ten Limited Open finalist, ridden to third place by Craig Schmersal. Vicks Enterprise is the 1988 Congress Open Futurity Champion sired by BH Enterprise (Million dollar sire).  7-up was started late due to an injury in her two year old year. D'Nae Meyer finished her training and Mike purchased her in 2002. He is competing in green reiner. SOLD

Stormin' Norman by Hesa Banjoe (by Joe Cody) x Miss Mission Pine (by Great Pine)

Rock On!
Norman has been consistent through the 1999 show season and finished on the NRHA Limited Open Top Ten list. He was sold to a non pro rider in Georgia last fall.

Banjoes Cool Dude by Hesa Banjoe (by Joe Cody) x Docs White Heather
This 7 year old gelding is owned by Maureen. She has learned how to ride and how to rein on him. Her very first show was Green Reiner "A" 2 years ago, and she came in first place with a nice well-planned pattern. Maureen ended up with the 1998 Reserved Championship in Green Reiner "A" and the Championship in Green Reiner "B" last year. Banjo is a solid citizen in the arena. As part of our restructuring in 2003, Banjoe was purchased by Jane and Len from New Jersey. He will be a good horse for them to learn about reining on. SOLD

Larkspur Lena by Omar Olena (by Doc O'Lena) x Rugged Lady (by Rugged Lark)
In 1996, Bob and Jean Anthony suggested this 4 year old mare for me. I knew she needed finishing, but took the chance and bought her. With Bob's help, I got through the first 30 days at home. During the year, I learned even more about feel with this mare.
"Lena" surprised us by getting right to work in the show pen. She finished with the 1997 ECRA Limited Non Pro Championship in Reining. In 1998 she won both Limited Open and Non Pro money, with limited showing on the east coast, and won the ECRA year end Non Pro Champion title.
This horse has become a good pony for beginner reiners to take lessons on. In 2000, she will be looking forward to a stint in rookie and youth classes. SOLD

From Nowhere Too (Dolly) by Im A Great Dude (by Great Pine) x Trodi Freckles (by Colonel Freckles)
Nicole has been riding and practicing reining maneuvers with Dolly in '98. She has learned alot and may be ready to show next year in Green Reiner classes.

This horse was purchased as a two year old from Kim Horn and Charlie Rome trained her through the end of her three year old year. Charlie placed her 26th at the 1996 All American Quarter Horse Congress Limited Open Reining Futurity.
She has a steady temper - almost like a gelding. Alexis loved to ride her and so did Nicole, who is eleven. Since Dolly was a true, bomb proof, little quarter horse it looked like she would make a good family horse for Maureen, Nicole, Lisa and Ralphy so they bought her.
Nicole is a beginner rider and learning to ride better every day. She takes Dolly out on the trail with no fear. This worked out to be a nice horse and rider team. "Dolly" is still "teaching" new riders as we move into 2003 and beyond.

Hot Jazz by Docs Tabasco(by Doc's Benito Bar) x Vegas Cody (by Joe Cody)
JAZZ is back and Alexis
learned to rein on her, as well as brought home the 1998 ECRA year end championship in Green Reiner A! I kept my girlfriend company at some major reining shows in 1995 when I could. It gave me the chance to show my new horse and we made the NRHA Top Ten list for a while. But, Hot Jazz did not like being hauled to shows, so I had to stop competing with her. Even though we stopped showing, she gained a Reserved Limited Non Pro year-end title.
Hot Jazz had been vacationing with some good friends and has returned to the farm now along with Sleepalena, an older reining mare. The vacation was good to Jazz and we found a way to haul her everywhere! Chrystal
rode Sleepalena last season and rode Jazz successfully in 2001. Jazz has since been retired.

Super Trax
This was the first reining horse in our family. He was trained by Larry Rose and could slide 50 feet (documented in a sliding contest). He was aged when we acquired him, but he was a great teacher! SOLD

Hickory Dickory Doc by Doc's Hickory
This big gelding was powerful! He did some winning and reached a Limited Non Pro year-end championship in 1994. Hickory is now sunning himself in Florida. SOLD

Bill's Hollywood Mico
He was trained by Bob Anthony and was purchased from a friend who had to stop showing for a while. This gelding could run a perfect circle at "60 miles an hour" and come back to 10mph without losing a step. "Bill" won Patty her first Limited Non Pro Division year-end championship in 1992. He was wonderful and she was sorry she sold him. He does have a nice owner at Robert Johnson's facility in Connecticut!

Benito Honey Bull(ApHC), Shesa Sassy Bull(ApHC), Miss Jaguar Pine (by Great Pine) and From Nowhere (by Sure Slide)
What a crew all trained by Randy Cutbirth, our first "NRHA mentor". Starting in 1988, we learned a great deal from Randy and from each horse, but Randy put some major credentials on some of these girls. He took From Nowhere to a 7th place win in the 1990 NRHA Limited Open Futurity. That was the most exciting accomplishment! SOLD
Shannon Raymond ended up with 2 NRHA Top Ten Novice Horse Titles on this mare a few years later!

Patty rode her rookie year on Miss Jaguar Pine with Randy coaching and won the reserved rookie year end award from the Connecticut Reining Horse Association. Shesa Sassy Bull placed in the ApHC World Show. Last, but not least, Benito Honey Bull was 1992 ApHC National Show Champion in Junior Reining as well as Reserved Champion in the ApHC World Show with Randy Riding! She now has a comfortable life as a trail horse. SOLD
