Whereas Neomi Smith sho was before her Marriage timely Admonished & Precautioned by Several Friends, against Proceeding in Marriage with Samuel Smith who is near of Kin to her, But she disregarding their Advice& tender admonition, Proceeded in Marriage with him in a different manner than according to the Rules of the Discipline of Friends, and Sooner after the Death of his former wife than is allow'd...Wherefore we Delare her out of Unity with us, and no more to be received as a member of our Religious Society until She Condemn the Same to the Satisfaction of this Meeting 13 3m 1760 Samuel Smith on behalf of his wife requested and appeal to the Quarterly Mtg. on account of the Judgement of this Mtg against her Marrying Contrary to Discipline. 14 8m 1760. Friends appointed to go to Naomi Smith to find what temper of mind she is in regard to Truth. 11 9m 1760 Samuel Smith produced a Paper for himself and his wife Condemning their former conduct and requesting a cert. to Fairfax MM, VA where they had moved. 12 8m 1762." Samuel Smith of this record preached in Meeting persistently from 1767 and was dis 31-15-1767, he appealed to the QM which denied him and approved his disownment 29-4-1768, also approved by YM 28-1-1769, but he kept on attending Meetings and attempting to preach, he was finally prevailed upon to make satisfaction but it was rpd that his death (1785) occurred before he could make up his paper of ack.
