French and Indian War

Benjamin Ackley served as a private May 1755 under Capt Dimock in the French and Indian War. This company was raised by CT but was in the pay of NY. Grandson of Nicholas the 1st son of Sgt John Ackley.

Hezekiah Ackley served as a private in the 7th Company, 3rd regiment CT militia under Capt Ichabod Phelps  from Sep 4 to Dec 11 1755 in the French and Indian War.
 

John Ackley and another man left the fort to go on a trip for salt. They were pursued by indians and hoping to avoid being captured, they seperated with the other man taking the horse. The man with the horse arrived safely at the fort (Kentucky) and told what happened. The wife waited for her husband to come home and every evening she would take the children outside the fort and sit and watch for him. She worried so that she actually died from grief or so his daughter, Sarah, thought. Sarah Ackley, married Burgess Elliot 6-28-1795 in Maysvile, KY. Sarah 6-13-1776 to 1-16-1863.
