Interest in establishing a historical society arose during planning of the 125th anniversary of the founding of Denton -- celebrated July 27-28, 1996.  Over the next several months discussions continued and on Tuesday, January 14, 1997 an organizational meeting was held and the Denton Community Historical Society was formed.

We invite everyone with an interest and knowledge of Denton and the surrounding community to participate in preserving the history and heritage of our community for posterity -- that many can come 'home to the memories' to revisit and relive some of the past and to visit the continuing growth of Denton, Nebraska.

.The Denton Community Historical Society (DCHS) holds as its primary responsibility to collect, preserve, research and interpret objects, artifacts, documents and published materials relative to the heritage and cultural environment of people and events in the Village of Denton and the surrounding areas of Denton, Berks, Cheese Creek, Rokeby, Yankee Hill, Burnham, Cobb Junction, Centerville and Emerald.

As an educational institution, the Society encourages public interest and participation in its activities through special programs, publications and distribution of information via the news media.  The Society will provide interpretive, research and preservation assistance to other institutions and individuals to the extent our resources will allow.
