My Beatles

Sing a song for Julia and Yoko

The Beatles song "Julia" is actually the song for John Lennon's lost mother. But is also the song for his new partner Yoko, not known public then. You can hear John sings "Julia, Julia, ocean child, calls me, so I sing a song of love, Julia". Why does ocean child appear here? Of course John's father was a seaman. But it's not the only reason. "Ocean child" means "Yoko" in Japanese. John hides his lover's name into his mother's song. John was a great poet.

The day John met Paul

Can you believe both John and Paul are on a Japanese music chart in a same time? It's not strange if it happened in 1970's. But I mean NOW. You've already heard Macca's new album 'Flaming Pie'. It sounds good of course. He's enjoying playing music. What's about John? His come back song '(Just Like) Starting Over' is used as a main theme song of Japanese TV drama. Japanese chart is often related by TV drama or commercial. So both John and Paul are on a chart. Sounds great for Japanese Beatle fan.

By the way, this year is the 40th anniversery of the day John met Paul at St. Peter's Church in Liverpool. The special Garden Fete will be held again in 5/6 July at the same place. I can't join it. Does anyone let me know about it?

What is your most favourite song?

This is the most tough question to answer. I like all songs even Revolution No. 9. When I was younger than today, I prefer early era songs like Please Please Me, or From Me To You. These songs are simple but full of pop and young beat.

As I grew up, I listened to Rubber Soul or Revolver. The Beatles are the best chorus band. Revolver is a pre-psychedelic album. Listen to John Lennon's songs carefully. I'm Only Sleeping, She said, She Said, And Your Bird Song, Doctor Robert and Tomorrow Never Knows. All sounds and lyrics makes me lazy and sharp, and lead me to colourful imagination even though its cover art is a mono tone lithograph.

I still don't like later era rather than earlies cos it reminds me their broken up. I know latest songs are great, but it's too sad to recall their argument. I may love to late years soon. After I watched Anthology video, I realised myself I had been loving these years.
