BAKING SODA
Probably one of the most useful items in your kitchen is your little box of baking soda. It can be used as a general household cleaner or to dissolve car battery corrosion. Plus it's inexpensive! Here are some uses I've found for it. If anyone knows of any not listed here, please let me know!

~1/2 cup baking soad plus your usual amount of liquid detergent makes a great grease cutter
~For a drain cleaner, use your plunger followed by 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 2 quarts boiling water.
~A paste made of baking soda removes stains from fiberglass.
~Don't pour water on a grease fire; douse it with baking soda.
~Sprinkle baking soda on perspiration stains.
~Baking soda also removes stains from porcelain.
~An open box of baking soda in your refrigerator helps eliminate odors.
~1 quart water, 1 tablespoon baking soda, a piece of aluminum foil and 1 tablespoon salt is a good silver polish.
~A good tub and tile cleaner is made of 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup white vinegar, and warm water.
~Sprinkle baking soda in litter boxes to help get rid of pet odors.
~Use a carpet deoderizer.
~Baking soda plus water removes battery corrosion.
~From Anne: Baking soda also works well for putting out a chimney fire or wood stove.Aalso baking soda bath isgood for rashes, chicken pox, hives; relieves the itch.
~Browneyes sent this hint for baking soda: Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with your shampoo to get rid of hairspray and gel buildup. She adds that it works great especially before a perm and leaves hair super clean and shiny!
