My favorite prayers

Prayer of St. Catherine

"Power of the Eternal Father, Wisdom of your only-begotten Son,

Clemency of the Holy Spirit, fire and deep well of charity,

You know how, and you are able, and it is your will, so I plead with you:

have mercy on the world, and restore the warmth of charity

, peace and unity to your Holy Church.

I do not wish you to delay any longer.

I beg you to let your infinite goodness constrain you

not to close the eye of your mercy!"

A MILLENNIUM PRAYER

God of love and mercy,

You call us to be your people,

you gift us with your abundant grace.

Make us a holy people,

radiating the fullness of your love.

Form us into a community,

a people who care, expressing your compassion.

Remind us day after day of our Baptismal call to serve,

with joy and courage.

Teach us how to grow in wisdom and

grace and joy in your presence.

Through Jesus in your Spirit, we make this prayer.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace:

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is discord, union;

Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand;

To be loved as to love;

For it is in giving that we receive;

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

St. Francis of Assisi, c. 1181-1226

Addressed to Christ

Anima Christi, sanctifica me.

Corpus Christi, salve me,

Sanguis Christi, inebria me.

Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.

Passio Christi, conforta me.

O bone Jesus, exaudi me.

Intra tua vulnera absconde me.

Ne permittas me separari a te.

Ab hoste maligno defende me.

In hora mortis meae voca me.

Et jube me venire ad te,

Ut cum Sanctis tuis laudem te

In saecula saeculorum.

Soul of Christ, be my sanctification:

Body of Christ, be my salvation;

Blood of Christ, fill all my veins;

Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains;

Passion of Christ, my comfort be;

O good Jesus, listen to me:

In thy wounds I fain would hide,

Never to be parted from thy side;

Guard me, should the foe assail me;

Call me when my life shall fail me,

Bid me come to thee above,

With thy saints to sing thy love

World without end. AMEN.

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL

SAINT MICHAEL, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

A PRAYER FOR THE BELIEVING HUSBAND

"Lord, thank you for the marriage partner you have blessed me with. Show me how to love him with your love-- to revere, honor and trust him all the days of his life. Help me to speak with wisdom, but always with the law of kindness on my tongue (Proverbs 31:26). May my husband love me as Christ loved the church, and together may we serve you.

"Lord give us both a spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know you better (Ephesians 1:17) and give us a deeper understanding of your Word as we seek to live by its guidance.

" Give him directions for our family. May he increase in wisdom and favor with you and his working associates and reach his full potential as a man of God. Provide for his emotional, physical and spiritual needs. Protect him from the fiery darts of the evil one. Help him to be the father and/or grandfather you intended for him to be, a Godly influence and a blessing to all who know him. In Jesus' name.

AMEN."

A PRAYER FOR AN UNBELIEVING HUSSBAND

" Lord, my husband doesn't know you, and it grieves me so.

I know you love him, and that Jesus came and died to save the lost.

Open my husband's eyes that he may see the Truth, which is Jesus.

I pray he will see Jesus in my life.

Help me to see him with your eyes and love him with your love.

" In the name of Jesus,

I bind all evil spirits that are keeping him from knowing his heavenly Father.

Lord, I pray you will send a godly man to share the gospel with him

in a way he can understand and receive.

"Father, grant him repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

that he may come to his senses and escape from the snare of the devil,

having been held captive by him to do his will.

Lord, open his eyes so that he can turn from darkness to light

and from the dominion of Satan to your kingdom,

in order that he may receive forgiveness of sins

and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in you.

Thank you, Lord, for working in his life until this prayer is answered.

In Jesus' name.

AMEN."

Thought of a Donor

I gave my blood: Christ gave His.

I gave a pint: He gave all.

The needle is small and sharp:

The nails were large and dull.

The chair soft and relaxful: The cross rough and painful.

The nurses kind and gentle:

The soldiers cruel and mean.

The crowds applaud my sacrifice:

They that passed by reviled Him.

Mine is for O positive:

His is positively for all.

Mine, at best, will prolong a life for a while.

His, no daubt, can save all forever.

MY NAME IS - I AM

I was regretting the past and fearing the future.

Suddenly my Lord was speaking.

"My name is I Am."

He paused, I waited. He continued,

"When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard.

I am not there. My name is not I Was.

When you live in the future with its problems and fears, I am not there.

My name is not I will be.

When you live in this moment, it is not hard, I am here,

My name is I AM.

Walk With Me

My Jesus, my Friend, walk with me today.

Hand in hand, guide me to learn and to know what is good.

Arm in arm, help me to growing my faith and in love for others.

Side by side, stay by me to protect me and show me Your ways.

Heart to heart, help me to pray ..and to be all that you want me to be.

thank You, Jesus for the special love you have for me.
