IN MY HEART
I thought of you with love today.
But that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
I think of you in silence.
I often speak your name.
Now all I have is memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake.
With which I'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
I have you in my heart.
My dearest Willie, it is so hard to believe that you are gone. It seems like only yesterday I adopted you from the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter where I volunteered. You were so different from the others, with your tail that curled like a dog's and your one pupil being bigger then the other.
I remember how when you got older, you loved to go out and hunt for things. You always brought home some interesting presents for me. You also were always one of the first ones to come in when it was dinner time. You were pretty sneaky about stealing chicken off my plate.
Whenever I would give you a catnip treat, you would just get so silly. I always had a good laugh watching you. I thought it was funny when you would take toys out of the toy basket one at a time and bat them all over the place
I will never forget how you used to like to give nose kisses and headbutts, or how you liked to curl up under the covers at night.
Thank you Willie for 9 wonderful years filled with precious memories that will never diminish with time. I loved you in life and I love you even more in death.
Farewell my friend. Until we meet again.
Forever your loyal human slave
I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the incredible people at All Pets Boulder Animal Hospital who helped me to give back to Willie his freedom, peace and dignity
Also, a thank you to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley Veterinary Clinic for helping me to make Willie's last few weeks as comfortable as possible.
