If you move away and leave me,I'll have a short and difficult life.My days will be spent scavenging for food and water. My nights will be spent prowling, howling and fighting for a mate.I'll get abscesses, parasites and diseases.
If I haven't been spayed,I'll have several litters before I die.My kittens will be wild and hungry. They will not know human love.If they manage to survive long enough, they will repeat the vicious cycle.
I need the love and care you promised me when you adopted me.If you can't take care of me;if you can't find me a home;PLEASE!!don't leave me on the streets to die.Take me to the Humane Society or Animal Shelter so they can find a home for me.
The Sentinel
Ronnette Fish
A flicker by the roadside,a rustle in the grass,
a greyness quickly darting cross the rise.
A whisper softly moving,a light stir of the wind,
The lonely sound of faint and troubled cries.
A whimper from the gully,a shadow on the bridge,
A turn and what was there has ceased to be.
A spot beneath the stone arch, dry weeds worn down from rest,
The tracings of a life we cannot see.
And the Sentinel is watching
From the shadow
Of the old bridge
In the darkness,always waiting
By the bridge
A tale of life abandoned, sweet love left on the road,
A trusting heart cast cold upon the wind.
In innocence she waited, watching by the thicket
For their return to take her home again.
A car's approach would bring her swiftly from the trestle.
Her eager eyes alert upon the lane.
The stranger's glance in passing would start to see the figure
Of a mongrel dog standing in the rain.
And the Sentinel is watching
From the shadow
Of the cold bridge
In the darkness,always waiting
By the bridge
It's long since she was last seen watching by the roses
Thick wild blooms along the prairie way.
Her loyal form is missing, the ragged ghost at rest
An unloved friend has sadly passed away
Yet,the path has not grown over where she would patrol
The spot beneath the arch still sparse and worn.
A spirit seems to wonder just beyond the roadway,
Vigilant at the bridge from morn to morn.
And the Sentinel is watching
From the shadow
OF the stone bridge
In the darkness,always waiting
by the bridge.
Before adopting a pet,ask yourself..Why do you want a pet? can you afford and are you willing to pay for veterinary care?Do you realize that this animal could live up to 20 years? Can you provide this animal with a warm and loving home for his or her entire lifetime? When the cute fuzzy kitten or cuddley puppy grows up will you still love them?
Animals should be adopted with a lifetime commitment or not at all.And please..always always spay/neuter your pets
