Randolph County, North Carolina

(Other locations will be added as data is found)

Slaves of the first generation were set free in 1816. Any children born AFTER that date were born free. Children born after Thomas Lytles death in 1794 (and therefore technically not his property) but before their parents were set free were sold to either Henry Humphreys or William Hogan. It is not known, with a few noted exceptions, if any kept the Lytle name, nor what became of those sold. Their descendants may bear the names Humphreys, Hogan, Lytle or some other name. Ages are estimates based on freedom status and birth order.
