Keep That Candle Burning
copyright 1994 Mary K. Wykes
The night is dark and lonely,
icy chill blowing right through me.
I shiver as I face into the wind.
Gentle light of candle burning
in the valley down below
reminds me of
a star
that led the way
so long ago.
***
Oh keep that candle burning
in your little corner of the world!
The darker it gets, the more we need the
light.
So PLEASE
Keep that candle burning
in your little corner of the world!
The darker it gets, the more we need the
light.
***
My candle's flame is flickering;
I shield it from the wind.
I need its light to help me find my way.
Thought the night is growing darker,
storm clouds gather in the sky,
I'll keep going
til I rest
in my belonging place
***
Oh keep that candle burning
in your little corner of the world!
The darker it gets, the more we need the
light.
So PLEASE
Keep that candle burning
in your little corner of the world!
The darker it gets, the more we need the
light.
***
I know where I am going,
where darkness has no place
where there will be
just one, eternal Day.
And we'll all lay down our candles.
We won't need them any more,
when we stand as Bride
before the bright,
the Morning Star.
***
Oh keep that candle burning
in your little corner of the world!
The darker it gets, the more we need the
light.
So PLEASE
Keep that candle burning
in your little corner of the world!
The darker it gets, the more we need the
light.
