Surnames Lists

All of these family trees and their associated surnames

eventually come together since they are my ancestors. A great deal of the information for these trees has come through my own research efforts. Some information was provided to me through a cousin of mine who has had her research done by a professional genealogist, this information, however, was gathered largely based on her parents while I am attempting to research all collateral lines in order to put together a fully accurate genealogies for all of my family member. There is a great deal of missing information that I hope to eventually tie altogether. Please be sure to e-mail me should you find any connections so that I may add them within these pages. There will be updated as I gather information through research and through people who share their connections.

Dauphin List - This family report and list of surnames takes you back through five generations. The earliest record available is dated about 1778 when Jean Baptiste Dauphin was born to Barthelemy D. Dauphin and Charlotte Duvall in Knox Co, Indiana. Early information is taken from the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Records of Vincennes, IN. Additional information has been compiled from other sources such as marriage, death and census records of Knox County and from my mother's family Bible.

Lewis List - This family report and surname list is very small, only three generations. Members of the fourth and fifth generations have not been included since they are still living. This is my husband's family, of which very little is known of his Welsch ancestors. We have only just begun with research on this line.

Patterson List - Again, I have another short family report and surname list. Here I have only four generations of my father's family with the earliest record being the birth of William H. Patterson on June 1, 1825 to Enoch Patterson and Hannah Bratton all of Willmington, DE. William and his family eventually found their way to Vincennes, Indiana. The information I have is taken from Knox County records and my mother's family Bible. I have hit a roadblock in locating any additional information for this family past their Indiana connections.

Porter List - This contains a combination of information received from my cousin and my own research into my maternal grandfather's family. Because of combining the two sources we can trace this family back fourteen generations when John Porter and Agnes Luscombe gave birth to their son Thomas in 1540. With their origins in England and on to Connecticut, this family was moving all over American soil in later years. By the early part of this century, there were Porter's in Moussouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, and California.

Smith List - Another short list of ancestors. Only three generations beginning with the birth of Pleasant F Smith in about 1815 in Tennesee. By the time he married "Thursey" (we do not know if this was her first name or last) I assume that he moved to MO as his five children were born in Gentry County MO. This is the family of my maternal grandmother who was named Anna Thursey Smith.

Spencer List - The information inculded here is more that I received from my cousin. As stated before, I do not have copies of any documentation and I am not aware of what sources were use in the gathering. Since it was gathered by a professional genealogist, I have to assume that all information have been documented appropriately and that everything contained herein to be true. One advantage to obtaining someone else's efforts shows by this fourteen generation tree which includes many of the same surnames as the Gerrard file and takes us back to about 1477.
