Peters & Whitehouse Family Album

bar image
Both my Peters and Whitehouse ancestors left England on the same ship. The story is that my Great Grandfather, Thomas Peters met his future wife Annie Whitehouse on shipboard and were married either enroute or immediately after their arrival in the United States. They came to the state of Pennsylvania, to the small mining town of Tyler in Clearfield County where they worked as coal miners.

This is a photo of my Grandmother Verna (Williams) Peters and my Grandfather, Joseph Peters. My Grandpa Joe, started working in the small coalmine that his father owned up the hill from the house, when he was 9 years old. His job was to haul the coal out of the mine in a cart drawn by their mule.

These two house photographs are of the home that my Great Grandfather, Thomas Peters, built for himself and his bride, Annie Whitehouse in the late 1800's. After he passed away, my Grandfather Joseph and Grandmother Verna moved in with Annie to help her out. They lived in this same house until about 1960. I loved going there to visit!
