Anastasia, our Rescue Greyhound

Call Name: Anastasia

D.O.B. May 20, 1998.

Sire: Great Son
Dam:Commanding Queen

Anastasia's History:

We adopted Anastasia from the late Linda Reidt, former owner of Zephyr Farms in Ontario Canada. Linda's mission was to rehome greyhounds whose racing careers at the tracks in the USA had ended. Anastasia previously raced at Wonderland and Seabrook Race Tracks in America.

Anastasia was born into a litter of 9 pups. The litter was raised in Abilene, Kansas and from there they were brought to the Wonderland Race Track. Anastasia received her early training from Northshore Kennels. Later, Anastasia, then known as Nicolyn and her litter-mate Nerraba were sent to the Seabrook Race Track. Nerraba retired from racing in May of 2001, and Anastasia later in the year. Both of these greyhounds, I'm told, sustained injuries prior to retirement. Nerraba at one time had a leg injury, and according to Anastasia's records, she broke a toe. When Anastasia came to us, she also had a break in her tail, which appeared to have healed at some point on its own.

Anastasia is now a senior citizen, but is certainly enjoying her retirement. She enjoys stretching out on our couch and having daily runs around our back-yard.
