I had been interested in my family history for most of my life,
but since my Father was transferred by his company to Florida
when I was five years old it was difficult to keep track of
relatives back in Georgia. I visited and came to know and love
some of them during summer vacations, but I never knew some of
the others. One of my goals of this site is learn and teach one another who we are.
A couple of years ago a friend gave me a copy of Brothers Keeper
to get me started
I begain by entering my Grandfather (AJ Steele) and my immediate
family, then I continued with my Grandfather on my mothers side.
As time went on I added cousins and their faimilies.

The program will run under Windows 3.1 or WIN 95. 4 megs of RAM minimum. To install the program, RUN the BKSETUP.EXE program. The program includes a help file. Press F1 for help on any screen. Brother's Keeper is Shareware. The registration fee is $49. The program may be freely distributed as Shareware.

At the Gendex site I learned about a program called GED2HTML
which allows you
to convert gedcom files created by various geneolgy programs like
Brothers Keeper to multiple HTML files. The HTML files include
the surname page and indexes which are linked together like mine.
At GeoCities I began to learn how to create my own web page and
that I could do it for free. (I'm still learning!)
I owe credit to Jarrick Vick who helped me get started.
