WILL OF JOHN DILNOTT - Written 27 July 1698
John Dilnott is my 8x great grandfather, born 1632 Ringwould, Kent. (No 292 in table of ancestors)
John's wife Joice (CHAMBERS) died in 1672.
Their son Valentine, mentioned in the will, is my 7x great grandfather.
I John Dilnott of the Parish of Sutton next Dover in the County of Kent, Cordwainer being weak in Body but of sound and perfect memory, praised be God, do make and ordaine this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
First, I give and bequeath my Soul into the Hands of almighty God who gave it me, and my body to the Earth to be decently buried by my Executors hereafter named trusting by and thro' the meritts of Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour to have full pardon and remission of all my Sins; Item, I give and bequeath unto my four Sons, John, Nicholas, William, and Valentine Dilnott, all my Lands and Tenements (lying?) and being in Ash next Sandwich, in the County of Kent, and in the Parish of Tilmanstone in the said County equally to be divided amongst them; Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son John Dilnott my largest Silver drinking Cupp and my great Bible; Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son Nicholas Dilnott all my goods Cattle and Chattels which shall be in my house or else where at the time of my decease; Item, I give and bequeath unto my two young Grand children Daughters of my Son William, Joyce and Martha Dilnott the sum of fifty shillings a piece, to be paid unto them at the end of one year next after my decease by my Executors herafter named; Item, I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Daughter of my Son John Dilnott the sume of fifty shillings of lawfull money of England to be paid her at the end of one year next after my decease by my Executors hereafter named; Item, I give and bequeath unto my John Dilnott Son of my Son Valentine Dilnott the sume of five pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid him at the end of one year next after my decease by my Executors hereafter named; Item, I give unto my two Sons John and Nicholas Dilnott all my debts which shall be owing unto mee att the time of my decease they paying my Debts (S?)egaries and funeral Expenses, And I do hereby roustitute and appoint my Two Sons joynt Executors of this my last Will and Testament, revoking all wills by me formerly made.
In Witniys whereof I have herethereto set my hand and Seal this Twentieth & Seventh Day of July in the Tenth Year of the Reign of our Soveraigne Lord Will: the Third, King of England, Anno Dni 1698, John Dilnott, Sealed Published and declared to be the last Will and Testament of me the said John Dilnott in the presence of Anna Firkard, Richard Barbar, Rich. Feild.
