(p1)....lines, to let you know that we are well; and hope to
find you the same. We feel very impatient to hear from you as we
have recieved no answer to our last but hope you will not delay
writing much longer. There is nothing going on here worthy of
note it is the same old place, still as ever. We shall not raise
a great deal, the reason is that we did not plant but a little,
your father has been alone and was not able to do much as
anything the first of the summer; and he has been a heavy very
dry here this summer; but it rains now and has rained pretty
smart all day. Our oxen have not got quite big enough to do much
yet. Daniel has
been at home and stayed a few days about six weeks ago, he was
well; and John
is at work for Mr Hutchins
yet but his time will be out in about a month. C Catherine is not at
home but she is well for what we know, she was the last time we
heard from her.
(p2)...as well as we, Simon
Lord is at home, he wants to sell his farm; and
he offers to sell cheap for he wants to go away, he offers it for
$400 and wants to have one of you come on by it, it is good farm
ad good buildings on it and he cuts a barn full of hay, he is
well. We have got a new neighbor where Mr
Paul used to live. Mr
Samuel Gray has bought that place. You wrote in
your letter last that Samuel thought of coming
on this fall, tell him to be sure and come without fail; for it
seems to be a great while since we have seen any of you very
much. The wheels of time are rolling on rapidly and soon we shall
be carried away to another land therefore we should employ every
possible opportunity to visit each other before it is too late
for, soon the great monster Death will hold us grasped in his
iron hand which hold he will never relinquish. I must now bid you
good bye, our love to you all, Write soon as you get this.
From your affectionate Father and Mother
