(page1) Wife I take this chance to write you a few
lines to let you know I am well and hope that you are well. We
have moved again and expect to go up the river tomorrow. we get
no rest at all I have wrote three letters and got no answers. I
wish you would write as soon as you get this and let me know how
you are getting along and if you get both reliefs. all the others
get it. I hope you send the
(page2) children to school every day. I hope you are
comfortable this winter. we have not got the allotment check yet
but will send them as son as I get it. the weather is warm here
but it rains half the time. when it is awful bad the mud is over
boots. I have that it has been as fine winter in New York. I got
a letter from Sam.
I have not had time to answer it, give my respects to him and
family. Gove my respects to Johns
folks give my repsects to all inquiring friends. I hope to see
them once more

she must be sure to learn to read by the
time I come home. it will not be long so you must learn fast. Alfred must go to
school every day and learn all he can for Papa will not come home
