let you know that I am well and hope you and the children are the
same. I received your ever welcome letter the 2nd and was glad to
find that you were all well. I got the money but did not want it
as I was paid the day before you may expect some money soon. I
have been sick with the fever and ague. The last three weeks but
I am better now it is sickly in the regiment. We are in a good
camp now and think we shall stay here tile the hot weather is
over. Frank Halliday is in the
hospital but is geting better. I have heard of the roits in the
city. I think it would be better for them to come out and fight
here and help us instead of burning and plundering there it will
put the war back six months longer as it gives the rebels courage
when they had nearly give out. I am glad to hear the children are
getting on so well. I hope the will learn fast
