New York March 20th (1864)
(p1) My Dear Hisband
I have received your letter of the 28 of feabuarry. My Dear
husband i was verry glad to here that you were engoining good
health. Which this leaves me and the children in at present
thankness be to god for his blessings to us all but it greves me
the hart to think that you must face the battle field again. i
had some courage when i knew that you were in camp but now i will
not have one minute peace untilll I hear that you are back safe
again and My Dear husband when you do go into the Fields of
Battle
(p2) write to me as soon as you can and everry time you can
for you know that i will not have acounted moment until i here
that you are out of it again and i hope god will send you out of
it safe. My Dear husband I shall never forget your goodness in
sending me you likeness. My Dear Laban i think you look just as
good as ever did in it and i cannot tell you how hapy i am to get
it. i am more thankful for that than all the money you could send
me if i was starving and if god spares me until you get settled.
(p3) some place i will send you my picture and the children
for i know it would make you fell more happy to have them. i kow
it did me for if i had to get the sitting of ____ your i could
not half as happy as i did get your picture and our little Willy as soone as he scene it he said o
mama that is my dear papa and he almost broke it kissing it
before i could get it from him. he said in the letter tell apap i
send him a kiss and tell him i pray to god for My Dear papa and Jane and Affrey
send you these
(p4) love. My Dear Laban you told me to let you know if i get
the relife money regular. Will i do get 3 dollars a week but
Laban every thing is so dear now that that will not do as mutch
for me now as 1 dollar would when you were home. i had to lave
the last place. i place i had on acount of the rent being raised
you can get any sort of a room for less than 5 dollars that you
could live in. My Dear husband Doctor Clout
Lans that he thinks that he can get you home by the 1 of
May or by the 1 of April. Dear Laban come if you can it might
take you out of all danger so good by my Dear Laban and i hope i
will soone see you home again.
(p5) Samuel got a letter from
you some time before I did and he sent you anser 2 days ago and Mrs Mudget wants you to send her your
picture. My Dear Laban i try to keep the right side of them all
since you went away and she is very good to the children and if
you not send it to her she will think that i did not tell you
about it. John and his family is all
well and sends you there love to you. i send my best respects to
Frank Halliday and all the boys and i am glad to here that are
all well and in good health
(p6) My Dear Laban i had to lave where i was in the 10 ave on
acount of the rent been so high. i am now living in 44 street 557
and the cholle house is in the same block and alfy is going to be a first rate collar.
he is read from his book ever when he is home. he came read very
nice and he sends his love to you and he says i must send you
some of his hair to let you see how good he kept his topnot. My
Dear husband i have nothing more to say at the present but i am
still in hopes that you can come home Noniese? ferom?
