Guion Miller applications of my great grandfather, Chesley Malone, of Putnam County, Tennessee, submitted in 1907. This was in response to a decision to grant funds to those of Cherokee ancestry. While he didn't submit enough information to prove our Cherokee heritage, it did provide valuable information in my genealogical research. Prior to this discovery, a "brick wall" had existed for many years regarding is past. As a matter of interest, his grandfather, Harvey Malone, was half-Cherokee from his mother's side.
