Mr. Ackley, a retired Chicago Northwestern railroad engineer, was born in Leon. He lived most of his life in Des Moines before moving to Missouri. He was an Army veteran and member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a son, Randall of Norfolk, Va.; two stepsons, Clinton Hays of Des Moines and Rodney Weir of Des Moines; two daughters, Debbie Montgomery of Gainesville, Fla., and Wendy Jeno of Rolfe; two stepdaughters, Debbie Myers of Fayetteville, Ark., and Tanna Reames of Mercer; his mother, Bessie Ackley of Des
Moines; two brothers, Denny of Des Moines and Wesley of Sweet Home, Ore.; and four grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was buried in Princeton Cemetery , Princeton, Mercer, Missouri.^18,19 He was retired railroad engineer at Chicago Northwestern.¹⁸ His Social Security Number was 478-48-5109 IA.¹³ He served in the military in the US Army.¹⁸
