She graduated from the Thomas Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing and received her BS and Masters in Education degree from the Univ. of PA. She worked as a school nurse for the Upper Darby School District for 25 years, working primarily in the Garrettford Elementary School, Drexel Hill. She retired in 1988. She was a member of Tenth Presbyterian Church, Phila. for over 20 years, formerly a member of the Lansdowne Bible Chapel (Plymouth Brethren). Grace was well known for her professionalism, wit and her ability to confront problems and seek solutions. Until recently she enjoyed sending hundreds of cards a year that were a source of encouragement, comfort and joy to those who received them. Her counsel was sought by many and she was loved by the numerous children whom came in contact with her over the years in the schools. She was also an accomplished pianist.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Ruth Masters of Townsend, DE & Louise Nolting of Newark, DE; 3 sons, Robert Ackley of Baltimore, MD, Philip Ackley of Berkley, MI & John Ackley of Haddon Heights, NJ; 15 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and nieces and nephews. Memorial service: Wed. Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Lansdowne Bible Chapel, Greenwood & Wycombe Aves., Lansdowne. Viewing: Tues. eve. from 7-9 p.m. at the FRANK C. VIDEON FUNERAL HOME, Sproul & Lawrence Rds., Broomall, PA.
