Mr. Ackley was an active Mason who served as master of Huntington Beach Lodge 380 in 1979. He also was a member of El Bekel Shrine in Long Beach, Long Beach Scottish Rite and Temescal Lodge in Corona.
He received the Legion of Honor award from DeMolay for his service to the youth group. He also was worthy patron for the Order of the Eastern Star for the Seaside Chapter in Huntington Beach in
1982 and 1994.
He was a member of St. Wilfrid's Episcopal Church and St.
John's Episcopal Church in Corona.
Mr. Ackley is survived by his wife, Geneva; a son, Michael of Fountain Valley; three daughters, Linda Ackley-Bowman of Sacramento, Barbara Crofts and Diane Heyden, both of Huntington Beach; two stepdaughters, Pamela Cibbarelli of Huntington Beach and Sandra Winkler of Corona; a stepson, Michael Johnson of Huntington Beach; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Linus of Sacramento.
