Charles “Chuck” Irvin Ackley, 81, Harrisonville, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born June 13, 1923, in Pittsburg, Kan., the son of Charles and Daisy M. (Miller) Ackley.
Mr. Ackley grew up in Wichita, Kan., moving to Kansas City in 1948. He moved to Harrisonville in 1982. He worked for General Motors 30 years, retiring in 1982 as a metal finisher. He was a WWII Navy veteran.
He was a member of Westport Masonic Lodge, Kansas City, Westport York Rite Bodies, Ararat Shrine, Kansas City, VFW Post 4409, Harrisonville and the Cass County Shrine Club.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, a brother and a son, Charles “Buzz” Ackley.
Surviving are his wife, Idonna, of the home; two sons, Ben Ackley, Independence, and Larry Ackley, Lee’s Summit; a daughter, Daisy Rinehart, Independence; a stepson, Charles Yeager, Sudbury, Maine; a brother, Bill Ackley, Pembine, Wis.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ben Ackley, Jason Ackley, Russ Rinehart and Brandon Ackley.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with Pastor Fred Young, officiating.
Burial was in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
