WASHINGTON C H, O., May 2- Richard Ackley, 23, went to sleep between the rails
of the Baltimore & Ohio railroad tracks just outside of Washington C H.
He was awaken by the noise of two freight engines and 23 cars passing over him.
He raised his head and it was struck by the under carriage of one of the cars.
When he regained consciousness, he was in a Columbus hospital, where he was
reported to be recovering today. He was unhurt except for the bump on his head.
Ackley explained that he had purchased a half gallon of wine and became sleepy

FIRE IN STABLES CLAIMS 11 HORSES
COLUMBUS O., April 13 (UP) - Fire destroyed a barn at the Beulah park race
track at Grove City early today, killing at least 11 race horses and causing
an estimated $23,000 loss.

Held On Charge of Assault
Richard C Ackley, 35, of High Point, N C , was arrested Saturday and charged
with assault on Mrs. Martha Collias of 218 Goshorn St., city police said.
Ackley was caught by police after her calls for help were heard by passers-by
who held him until police arrived.
Mrs. Collias charged in a warrant that she was carrying groceries home on Goshorn
street Saturday about 7 p m when Ackley attacked her.

Monday in municipal court on charges of felonious assault and attempted rape
of Mrs. Martha Collias, 218 Goshorn St.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was held in county jail in default
of $500 bond. Ackley pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness and was fined
$10 and costs.
He was arrested Saturday evening after Mrs. Collias said the man grabbed her
on the street near her home. Two passers-by heard her screams and came to her
assistance, police said.
