Ackley, Roy P., Clio, Michigan. Age 73, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Heartland
Fostrian in Flushing. Roy was born June, 13, 1931, in Midland, Michigan, the
son of the late Ray and Myrtle (Moore) Ackley. He had resided in the Clio area
the past 48 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Roy married Ernestine Reis on June 9, 1956. He was employed with Buick for 46
years, retiring in 1996 and was a member of UAW Local 599. He attended Evangelical
Wesleyan Church in Davison. Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are wife,
Ernestine; children, Emma Jean (Roger) Gabbard of Greensburg, Ind.; Janet (William)
Foster of Flushing; Roy (Sharon) Ackley Jr. of Germany; Karen (Rick) Harris of
Roscommon; Susan (James) Bundy of Owosso; 11 grandchildren, Renea, Bill Jr.,
Amy, Rachelle, Valerie, Chad, Tyler, Nicholas, Joanna, Jenny and Jacob; one great-granddaughter,
Ashlee; brother, Dale (Pat) Ackley of California; sister, Thelma Obermiller of
Bay City; a sister-in-law, Florence Ackley of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
Roy was also preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, John and Don and one
sister, Betty. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2005
at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Rev. William McNees officiating with
burial in Woodlawn. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00
to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorial
contributions may be made to Evangelistic Faith Missions or Heartland Hospice.
