Tyler, father of our subject, was married to Miss Jeanette Ackley, a native of Massachu­setts and a daughter of Daniel Ackley. After residing for forty-five years in the Empire state John Tyler, Jr., brought his family to Illinois, settling in Iroquois county. He purchased two hundred and forty acres of land in Chebanse township, built a home and began to improve a farm, carrying on general agricultural pursuits here for several years. He died in 1893. at the age of seventy years, and is yet survived by his widow, who is now living in California with a daughter, at the age of seventy-eight years.
