Bay City, Michigan Our loving mother and grandmother went to be with her Lord
early Friday morn-ing, March 16, 2007 at Huron Woods Nursing Center, age 97 years.
She was born June 16, 1909 in Bay City to the late Rose Van Wert and was adopted
by the late Eziekol and Ella (Woodbury) Ackley. Leona was a former member of
Visitation Catholic Church and her family attends St. Mary of the Assumption
Church. She retired as a RN from Mercy Hospital in 1974 after 26 years of service.
Leona enjoyed raising roses and quilting. She is survived by one daughter, Marian
Anderson of Twining; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Erwin-Schulz of Auburn; her
step children: Dr. Gerald (Margaret) Luczak of Saginaw, Donna (Gerald) Keyser
of Lovells, Mary Ann Dierck of Mio, Thomas (Janis) Luczak of Bay City; step daughter-in-law,
Mary Rose Luczak; 35 grandchild-ren; 57 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews. She was prede-ceased by her husband, Ralph Erwin
in 1949; her husband, Clement Luczak in 1963; one son, James Erwin; two step
sons, Jean Luczak and Rev. Fr. Ralph Luczak CSC; two sons-in-law, Les Morley
and Joseph Ander-son; one step son-in-law, Darrel Dierck and two grandchildren,
Marie Bond and Joseph Dierck. The Luczak family would like to extend a special
thank you to the staff at Huron Wood's for the kind and compassionate care they
provided for their mother during her nine year stay with them. The Funeral Liturgy
will be celebrated Monday, March 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption
Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit with the Rite of Committal
follow-ing in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home,
Inc. on Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place
Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Luczak will be taken to
the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of the
services. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for St. Mary's Church Building Fund
