Jannetta May Reed Conway was born in Millington on Nov. 6, 1897, to Ada Ackley Reed and William Henry Reed.
The Reeds had five children, Jannetta being the eldest. Carl Reed, Vera Belle Reed Wilson, Harold Ray Reed, and Helen Francis Reed Karr McKinley were her brothers and sisters.
Jannetta married Paul W. Conway in Cass City on Nov. 22, 1915. The Conways had three children, Vera Belle Conway May Cooley of Ithaca, Pauline Marie Conway Nelson of Lupton, and Orison Charles Conway of St. Louis.
When the Conway children were young, Jannetta and Paul moved the family from Vassar, to Shady Shores Park at George Lake in Lupton. There, her husband, Paul, cleared and developed a 90 acre plotting of land. He built the first home in the park, a log cabin, the original archway, Conways Gardens, and the General Store.
Jannetta was a devoted housewife and mom. The Keeper of the Home. She loved baking bread, rolls, pies, cakes, and cookies. She liked to sew as well. Jannetta knitted mittens, scarfs, and hats, as well as coats made for the children.
Jannettas hobbies were crocheting, knitting, and embroidering, but most of all she loved reading her Bible. How she loved the Word of God and what Jesus means and has done for her. Jannettas favorite songs were Whisper Jesus, Amazing Grace and The Old Rugged Cross. Jannetta witnessed so much in her century plus. The Great Depression; the Titanic sinking; epidemics of diseases like tuberculosis, small pox, diphtheria, typhoid fever, and polio; World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam and the Iraq wars.
Jannetta also saw many exciting things we now take for granted. Washing machines and dryers, wrinkle free fabrics, microwaves, and even instant meals.
Jannetta lived a full, satisfying life. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her extended church family and friends.
Jannetta lost so many loved ones  her mother Ada Reed, father William Reed, and step father Frank Rennells; all her brothers and sisters; her husband, Paul Conway; daughter Pauline Nelson; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Conway; three sons-in-law, William May, Benjamin Cooley and Ford Nelson; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Jannetta had 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 66 great-great-grandchildren, and one sixth generation great-great-great-grandchild.
Jannetta was a member of the Ithaca Church of God.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ithaca Church of God. Rev. James Conn will officiate, and burial will follow at the Rose City Cemetery in Rose City at 4 p.m. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.
