Eva Lane ACKLEY was born on 14 Apr 1886 in Howell, Livingston , Michigan.^{11,19,23,33,41,42,43} She died of a Pulmonary Embolus due to a broken hip and she also had Bladder Cancer. on 15 Mar 1970 in Howell, Livingston , Michigan.^23,41 Her Obituary appeared in the Livingston County Press. in Aug 1975 in Livingston , Michigan Eva Lane Ackley is the daughter of Herbert J.Ackley and Imogene Lane. Eva bas b. April 14th, 1886 in Howell, Mich. After graduating from Alma college in Alma, Mich. she began her teaching career in the kindergarten dept. of the Howell schools, which was the first Kindergarten Howell ever had. After nine successful years of teaching she resigned and remained at home. World War II broke out and due to the shortage of rural teachers she taught for seven years in the rural area of the county.
She was a member of the Howell Circle of Kings Daughters and also the Livingston county garden club. At the age of ten joined the Presbyterian church and was a faithful member of the church. For four years was secretary of the Woman's society and for several years was leader of the cradle roll and beginners dept. She was closely affiliated with all the activities of the church and Sunday school.
She was married to Dr. Fred Frisbee Vandercook after her first year of teaching.
Dr. Fred Frisbee Vandercook passed away march 4th, 1957, a loss she never became reconciled to .
Surving are son Robert Morris Vandercook, two grand children Robert Morris II and Catherine Marie. Two nieces Mrs. Emory Garlock of Howell and Mrs. Raymond Hostetler of Flushing Mich. and several cousins.
