Obituary: Illinois Therman E. Ackley, 74, of Springfield died Monday at St. John's Hospital. He was born March 13, 1922, in Shawneetown, the son of Herman and Alma Bosaw Ackley. He married Mary Jo Daniels on Feb. 26, 1946.
A chef, Mr. Ackley was employed by Fleetwood Restaurant and later by Calvary Academy.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; founder and past president of Illinois Executive Chefs Association. Survivors: wife, Mary Jo; three sons, David Ackley of Springfield, Robert and Randy Ackley, both of Phoenix; three grandchildren; a brother, Otis Ackley of Detroit, Mich.; and a sister, Violet Gowin of Springfield. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
