She was born June 11, 1904, in Ina, the daughter of Virgil and Mary "Mollie"
Isom Ackley. She married Harry Edward Mabus Sr. in 1923; he preceded her in death
in 1962. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harry Lee Mabus Jr.
Mrs. Mabus retired after about 30 years as owner and operator of Mabus Dry Goods
in Palmyra. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Palmyra Business Association,
Palmyra First Baptist Church and Terry Park Community Club.
Survivors: two sons, Marion Charles (wife, Mattie) Mabus of Mauldin, S.C., and
Bill E. (wife, Beverly) Mabus of Palmyra; two daughters, Norma Janete Spann-Hanks
of Girard and Jean L. (husband, Glen) Bettis of Palmyra; 19 grandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Ackley
of Mount Vernon; and a sister, Martha Owens of Mount Vernon.

Cemetery, Palmyra.
