Clifford W. Ackley, 93, of Mt. Vernon died 3:20 a.m. Oct. 21, 2002, at Nature
Trail Healthcare Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was employed at Mt. Vernon Auto Parts until his retirement.
Mr. Ackley was born Aug. 27, 1909, in Paragould, Ark. to Virgil and Mary (Isom)
Ackley. He married Ruth V. (Ramsey) Ackley Jan. 15, 1936, in Mt. Vernon; she
died Aug. 9, 1983.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
Those attending this service are asked to go directly to the cemetery. The Rev.
Merle Fullerton will officiate.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home.
Mr. Ackley is survived by two daughters, Wilma I. Rhodes and husband Bill of
Ottumwa, Iowa, and Ruth E. Harris and husband Jackie of Mt. Vernon; three sons,
Wallace Ackley and wife Carol, Arthur Ackley and wife Mary and Gary Ackley and
wife Rita, all of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Martha Owens of Mt. Vernon; and several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, six sisters and one
brother.
