Prater, 66, of Rural Route 1, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1994, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Born Jan. 15, 1928, in Decatur to Lloyd and Carrie Ackley Hamilton, she married D. Earl Duckwiler on Jan. 30, 1946, in Virginia, Ill. He died Oct. 23, 1973. She later married Orin S. Prater on April 24, 1976, in Astoria. He survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Gale, Damon and Raymond Duckwiler, all of Astoria, and Dennis Duckwiler of Winter Garden, Fla.; two daughters, Sandra McCombs of Astoria and Carol Duckwiler-Lippold of DeKalb; three stepsons, Leroy and James Prater, both of Sulphur, La., and Clyde Prater of Cuba, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Darlene Prater-Ward of Clinton, Ark., and Brenda Cummings of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, Rodney Hamilton of Canton; 24 grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. One son, Bill Duckwiler, one stepson, Roger, one sister and two brothers, preceded her in death.
She worked at H&R Block and Amant Bookkeeping in Havana for 20 years.
She was a member of Summum Christian Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. The Rev. Steve Castaneda will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the National Arthritis Foundation.
