He was born on Jan. 3, 1923, in Jefferson County, the son of Elva and Lillie (Ackley) Johnson. He married Esther Bernice Johnson on Dec. 9, 1944, in Jeffersonville, Ind., near where he was stationed during World War II, and later moved to Fort Ord, Calif. She preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2004.
Mr. Johnson was a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of the Ina United Methodist Church. Mr. Johnson was owner and operator of Harry's Feed Mill and a retired farmer. He enjoyed coon hunting.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his two sons, Bill Johnson and wife Christine of rural Bonnie and Jack Johnson and wife Verla of rural Ina; four grandchildren, Ben Johnson and wife Alycia, Adam Johnson and wife Rachel, Susan Mendenall and Jennifer Johnson and fiancé Eric Griffice; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Mendenall, Kenzie McIlrath, Jarrett Johnson and BrookeLynn Johnson; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Harry Culli; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and by two sisters, Elsie Hays and Mary Florence Atchison.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with the Revs. Gary Whipple and Karol Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
He was buried on 2 Apr 2008 in Kirk Cemetery , Ina, Jefferson, Illinois.⁹⁹ He served in the military WW II in the US Army.⁹⁹ Kathy Hulbert has middle name as Edmund
