He married Darlene Grant in 1961. He was a painter for the Secretary of State's office. Mr. Ackley was a member of Painters' Local 90. In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Harry Ackley Jr. and Richard Allan, both of Springfield; two daughters, Donna Rene and Darla Faye Ackley, both of Springfield; two grandchildren; three brothers, Arlin of Petersburg, Therman of Springfield and Otis of Alpena, Mich.; one sister, Violet Gowin of Springfield; several nieces and nephews. Remains will be cremated. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cass Cemetery, Buffalo Hart, with the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SPRINGFIELD - Darlene D. "Peanut" Ackley, 67, of Springfield died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at her home.
She was born May 15, 1938, in Manteno, the daughter of Fred and Marie S. Reinken Grant. She married Harry Dale Ackley Sr. in 1961; he died in 1990.
Mrs. Ackley graduated from Manteno High School. She was a homemaker.
Survivors: two daughters, Rene Ackley (fiance, Joe Drendel) and Darla Faye Ackley (fiance, Gary Flanagan), both of Springfield; two sons, Harry Dale Jr. (wife, Shawn) and Richard A. (wife, Teresa) Ackley, both of Springfield; two grandchildren; three sisters, Eva Statler of Kankakee, Doris Peak of Jacksonville and Geraldine (husband, Russell) Bensema of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, Sandy Woodard officiating. Burial: Cass Cemetery, Buffalo Hart.
