4. Elizabeth Anna CONKLIN was born on 5 Sep 1831 in Monroe , Ohio.2,6,7 She died on 11 Aug 1917 in Dubuque, Dubuque , Iowa.6

Elizabeth Anna CONKLIN and Thomas J WALLACE were married on 3 Apr 1850 in Jackson , Iowa.6 They were married by a French priest in the Parrish of Garryowen, Butler Township, Jackson Co., Iowa Thomas J WALLACE1,7 (son of Living) was born on 6 Jan 1806 in Rathcool, Cork Co. Ireland.7 He died on 16 May 1888.7 He left his home for a place called Dubuque, Iowa in 1825. He and three other men left Ireland when he was very young on a small sailing vessel. After seven weeks on the water, they landed at Halifax Canada. Strolled along and came to where some men were building a railroad. He hired out for 3 dollars and board and help build the first eight miles of the Scheulkill and Suscquhanna Railroad. Then he started on foot for Dubuque. Sometimes he would get a ride by overtaking a man driving an ox team. There was no settlement where Chicago is now. He found some white people where Waukeegan now is. He found a few whites at a stream, thought it was where Galena is now. After a time he got to Dubuque but never worked in them mines. He got in with a gang of surveyors and helped run some of the correction lines across Iowa. He got a piece of land and planted it to corn. A man named John McClurg traded with him in the southern part of Dubuque county. He did not have that long till a young Englishman traded him out of that place in OtterCreek Township, Jackson Co. Iowa
