SOUTH READING - May Gonyea Ackley, 95, died Aug. 1, 2000, at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.

She was born May 26, 1905, in Malone, N.Y., daughter of Wilfred and Olive (Noreault) Gonyea.

She attended schools in South Reading.

She married Charles L. Ackley in 1949 and lived in South Reading most of her life.

Mrs. Ackley worked at the Claremont General Hospital in Claremont, N.H., for several years before retiring.

She enjoyed music and was a member of the local Old Time Fiddlers' Club.

Her hobbies included traveling, crocheting, quilt making and rug making.

Mrs. Ackley was well known for her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.

Survivors include a sister, Hattie Ackley of Reading; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Charlotte; three brothers; and two sisters.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Old Stone Church in South Reading by the Rev. William Sheldon, pastor. The committal service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Old Stone Church in South Reading.
