and by Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield for many years. He had also worked
for the town of Ludlow in the Cemetery Department. He was a member of the Knights
of Columbus and a member of the Church of Annunciation, both of Ludlow. Mr. Machado
also enjoyed gardening. He was born in Saomiquel, Azores, Portugal on March 4,
1909, the son of Louis A. and Herondina Faria Coneto Machado. Mr. Machado received
his education in Somerville, Mass. On Nov. 27, 1930, he married Gertrude Ackley
in Cambridge, Mass. She died in 1984. Survivors include one son, Roger Machado
of Mount Dora, Fla.; two daughters, Barbara Dartt of Essex Junction, Vt., and
Shirley Call of Londonderry, Vt.; one sister, Margaret Fontaine of Somerville;
11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one nephew. He was predeceased
by one granddaughter, Michelle Dartt. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m.
Saturday at the Church of Annunciation with the Rev. James Lawrence officiating.
Burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow. Visiting hours are
from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Adams-Gendron Funeral Home at 12 Meadow St. in
Ludlow. Memorial donations may be made to: Vermont Heart Association, 12 Hurricane
