BURADELLA GREENWOOD TURNER was born at Hebron, Maine, December 25, 1825,
where she spent her childhood days among the hills of that far eastern state.
She came to Hennepin in February, 1853, and was married to James S. Simpson,
October 30th of that year. Six children were born to them, all of whom are
living and were present at the funeral. Her husband died August 26, 1869,
leaving her with her six small children, who were led gently and kindly with
an untiring care such as only a watchful mother could do.
Four of her children were with her through the greater part of her
sickness. Mrs. E. A. Boyle, Mrs. J. W. Otto, Henry and James. The others,
Fred L., of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. C. C. Montgomery, of Peoria, Ill., not
reaching the home until after her death. Her thoughts were always for her
children, always sacrificing to do for them and through her last sickness her
thoughts were for them and their welfare.
After a sickness of seven months she died at her home where she had lived
for over 47 years, at 3 o’clock, Thursday, May 26, 1904, aged 78 years, 5






months and 1 day. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her
best.

The funeral services were held at the house, Saturday afternoon at 3






o’clock, conducted by Rev. T. B. T. Fisher, pastor of the Universalist church
of Peoria, after which the body was laid to rest in the family lot in
Riverside cemetery.

Buradella Greenwood TURNER and James S SIMPSON were married on 30 Oct 1853 in Hennepin, Putnam, Illinois.^128,129 About 1836 James S SIMPSON was Sheriff at Putnam , Illinois.¹²⁸ He died on 26 Aug 1869.¹³⁰ Buradella Greenwood TURNER and James S SIMPSON had the following children:
