Born in Westfield, he lived in Blandford before moving to this city 50 years ago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. He was a member of East Congregational Church and Local 404 of the Brotherhood of Teamsters. He leaves his wife of 55 years, the former Natalie F. Graham; four daughters, Doreen L. Ackley of Michigan, Wendie L. Cabey of East Springfield, Gail M. Ackley of Chicopee, and Susan J. Ackley of Springfield; three brothers, Marshall and Edward, both of Chicopee, and Calvin of West Springfield; a sister, Thelma LeCuyer of Westfield; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday morning at Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home, with burial at Paucatuck Cemetery. Calling hours are this evening.
