Ackley, Mildred L. "Millie"
MADISON - Mildred L. "Millie" Ackley, age 90, passed away unexpectedly
on Friday, Dec. 17, 2005, at her home. She was born on Nov. 22, 1915 in Baraboo,
the daughter of Fred and Fannie (Smith) Hewitt. Millie was united in marriage
to James L. Ackley on June 26, 1939, in Baraboo, and just celebrated 67 years
of marriage this past June. Millie was a longtime member of Lake City Church,
formerly Madison Gospel Tabernacle. She worked at Riteway Busing, Madison and
Genesis Hair and Day Spa, DeForest. Millie was the perfect model of a loving
and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the spiritual
mentor of the family. Millie lived her faith and opened her heart and home to
everyone she met. She was an angel here on earth. Millie is survived by her loving
husband, Jim; children, Lee (Cheryl) Ackley of Cottage Grove, Linda (Clark "Mike")
Jones of Madison, Pat (Donn) Hagland of Madison, John (Tracy) Ackley of DeForest,
and Mary (Randy) Charles of Kennebunk, Maine; 13 grandchildren, Tania (David)
Fanson of DeForest, Aaron (Becky) Dorsey of Virginia; Sarah (Kelly) Schuppener
of Sun Prairie, Thomas Dorsey of Madison, Andy (Dianne) Jones of Fitchburg, Jennifer
(Rick) Fry of Rio, James (Angela) Ackley of Madison, Paul (Heidi) Ackley of McFarland,
Lauren and Caleb Ackley of DeForest and Justin, Christopher and Tyler Charles
of Kennebunk, Maine; 10 great-grandchildren, Cassie, Catherine, Michael, Ryan,
Holly, Grace, Ethan, Evan, Arianna and Kaitlyn; a sister, Ruth Hillebold of Baraboo;
two sisters-in-law, June Hewitt of Tucson, Ariz. and Bobbie Kahl of Poynette;
and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers,
Kenneth and Forrest Fred; a sister, Jeanette "Nettie" Adams; and a
brother-in-law, Bob Adams. Funeral services will be held at LAKE CITY CHURCH,
4909 East Buckeye Road, Madison, at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, with the
Rev. Warren Heckman presiding. Private burial at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation
will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive from 5 p.m. until 7
p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, and at the church from 11 a.m. until the time
