Mrs Phillip G Ackley Recovering Rapidly From her illness
There has been a great deal of talk recently in the neighborhood of Short street
over an operation performed about four weeks ago upon Mrs. Philip G. Ackley,
who has been dangerously ill for two or three months. The operation was performed
on March 10thbyDr. Richard B Stewart, and the charge has been freely circulated
that it was performed in a bungling manner. Some people have not hesitated to
say that Dr. Stewart ought to be placed under arrest and prosecuted for malpractice.
A representative of the DEMOCRAT investigated the affair today. He found that
the operation took place in the presence of Dr's. Hepburn. Whitcomb and J Norman
Davis, all of whom, it must be conceded, are physicians of good standing in the
community. This act, in itself, would seem to settle that matter in Dr, Stewart's
favor. The reporter visited the Ackley's residence and was permitted to see the
patient. In view of all the talk that has been going about, it might reasonably
be supposed that Mrs. Ackley would be too weak to receive visitors. The reporter
was somewhat surprised, therefore, to find her quite strong and able to speak
for herself, Mrs. Ackley is much grieved concerning the reports reflecting upon
Dr. Stewart and she told the reporter hat she was only too thankful for that
Dr. Stewart had done for her. No physician, she said, could be more Faithful
and kind than he had been in caring for her and she, together with her family
considers the operation a highly successful one. This is evident from the fact
that she is now recovering rapidly from her illness, and it is expected that
she will be able to leave her room within a short time. She was living in 1930
in Warren, Warren , Pennsylvania.233
She appeared in the census 1900, 1910, 1920 & 1930 in Pennsylvania. |
