Offer of Making Good Being Considered

Joe Harvey Ackley, 36, 90 Arden Circle, was arrested on embezzlement charges yesterday after his employer at the Montgomery Ward department store complained that $86 in sales were not put in the cash register.
Signing the complaint against Ackley was Edward F Callaghan, 1301 Fayland Way. Mr Callaghan charged that Askley (this is the way his surname appeared in the original article) sold six tires for $86 and kept the money instead of ringing up the sale.
Ackley was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Laurance E Layman yesterday afternoon. He offered to make restitution, but Judge Layman said the district attorney's office would have to approve any such settlement.
The preliminary hearing was scheduled for 2:30 pm August 11, Bail was set at $1,000.
