1/30/2003 - WARREN - Irene B. Ackley, 80, a resident of the Warren Manor, formerly
of 107 Pine St., Kane, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) in Warren General Hospital.
She was born Jan. 26, 1923, in Kane, the daughter of John J. and Esther V. Walstrom
Davis.
She had been employed by the Kane Shirt Factory, and retired in 1980 from Stackpole
in Kane where she had been employed for 22 years. She was a member of the F.O.
Eagles Aerie 307, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, both of Kane, and the
Kane Senior Center, where she served as president.
She is survived by four sons: Larry, Terry and Ronald Ackley, all of Kane, and
Dennis Ackley of Warren; a daughter, Kathy M. Nuhfer of Kane; 20 grandchildren;
and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Ackley; a son, James J. Ackley;
three brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ronald McDonald II
Funeral Home, Kane. The Rev. John Dawson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Kane,
will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.

Margaret "Peg" T. Ackley, 78, formerly of Kane, died Friday, March
28, 2003, at St. Mary's Home, Erie.
Mrs. Ackley was born March 12, 1925, in New York City to the late John and Alma
Johnson O'Brien. Mrs. Ackley had been a social worker for the state. Before that
she was employed as a beautician. She was a member of St. Callistus Church, a
charter member of the Altar Rosary Society and a member of CD of A Court Callistus
No. 66. Mrs. Ackley was a member of the Pennsylvania Employees Retirement System
and served as its secretary for many years. She belonged to her card club for
more than 50 years and bowled in leagues at the Rose Bowl for many years.
Surviving are a son, Mark Henry, Erie; four daughters, Kathleen Callender, Jamestown,
N.Y., Mary Ann Burkey, Kensington, Md., Christine Carpenter, Aransas Pass, Texas,
and Margie Benscoter, Fort Worth, Texas; four stepsons, Larry Ackley, Dennis
Ackley, Terry Ackley and Robert Ackley, all of Kane; two sisters, Alice Freehill,
New York City, and Jane White, Short Hills, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
several step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert
Henry, whom she married on May 5, 1946, in New York City; her second husband,
Lyle Ackley, whom she married on Feb. 15, 1969, in Kane; three brothers, Harry
O'Brien, John O'Brien and Ernest O'Brien; a sister, Alma O'Brien; and a stepson,
James Ackley.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Cummings Funeral
Home Inc., Kane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday
at St. Callistus Church with Rev. David Wilson as celebrant. Burial will be in
St. Callistus Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Callistus Church
or Friends' Memorial Library.
