Alfred Ackley, a brother in-law of Mrs Ben Briggs of this city and an uncle of Asa Briggs, died at the Waupaca Veteran's home last Wednesday morning and was buried in the home cemetery on Saturday. Alfred Ackley, a brother-in-law of Mrs Ben Briggs of this city and an uncle of Asa Briggs died at the Waupaca Veterans's home last Wednesday morning and was buried in the home cemetery on Saturday. Mr Ackley was 79 years of age, a veteran of the Civil war and a member of the Home colony for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, who before her marriage was the widow of the late William Edminster of Belmont He was buried in Wis. Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, King, Waupaca, Wisconsin.176 Wis. Pvt Alfred J ACKLEY and Mattie were married.175 Mattie was born about 1850 in Illinois.175 She appeared in the census in 1870 in Iowa.

Pvt Alfred J ACKLEY and Amanda Electa PHELPS were married about 1923.178 Amanda Electa PHELPS178 (daughter of Asa C PHELPS and Asenath Eugenia FINCH) was born on 4 Aug 1860 in Theresa, Dodge, Wisconsin.178 She died on 26 Jul 1947 in Farmington, Jefferson, Wisconsin.178 Amanda married for the third time in 1923, Alford Ackley, who died in 1926. She then changed her name back to Edminster "for very good reasons", presumably pension eligibility. She did get a widow's pension in 1931. She died 26 July 1947 at a G. A. R. home at Farmington, Wisconsin andwas buried at Steven's Point
