JIM FALLS - Clarence Ackley, 76, of 19643 115th Ave., Jim Falls, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.

He was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Chippewa Co., the son of Frank and Laura (Comstock) Ackley. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a truck driver for Babbitt Brothers for 37-1/2 years, Kressin Trucking for 10 years and for Howard Dresel.

Clarence married Ardis Sokup in 1943.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Jim Falls.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne "Mike" (Jane) of Cadott and Curt (Bonnie) of Jim Falls; five grandchildren, Curt, Andrea, Breanna and Ron Ackley and Candi AbouBakr; three great-grandchildren, Tariq and Jamila AbouBakr and Nicole Mashek; several nieces, nephews and friends; and three dogs, Princess, Brandy and Droopy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis on April 22, 1975; one son, Gary; his parents; an aunt and uncle, Loretta and George Amundson who raised him; three brothers, Wilmer and Elmer Ackley and Vernon Amundson; and three sisters, Blanche Faschingbauer, Lela Prueher and Betty Gullickson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Sacred Heart Church, Jim Falls. Interment will be in Copp Cemetery, town of Anson. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, and until 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Clarence Ackley were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Sacred Heart Church, Jim Falls. The Rev. Kurt Apflebeck was celebrant of the funeral Mass and officiated at the prayers of interment in Copp Cemetery, town of Anson. He was assisted by seminarian, Matt Willkom. Military rites were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

Music during the Mass was provided by Judy Brist.

Casket bearers were two grandsons, Ron and Curt Ackley; two nephews, Mike and Rick Sokup; and Keith Shears and Carl Schick.
