She was a 1933 graduate of Sioux Falls High School, Sioux Falls, S.D. In 1935 she received a certificate in elementary education from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She taught first grade at Sioux Falls for two years and was a substitute teacher in later years.
She was a homemaker, a bookkeeper and worked at Green Tree Pottery in Audubon for several years.
She was active in the Methodist Church, having taught Sunday school and participated in the church choir. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as district president. She was active in P.E.O., he historical society and other civic clubs.
She is survived by a daughter, Patti Stone of Fairfield, Iowa; a son, Douglas of Julian; a sister, Harriette "Peggy" Hartung of Bloomington, Minn; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; three nieces and a nephew.
The funeral was held April 10 at First United Methodist Church, Jefferson, Iowa, with the Rev. Sheri Daylong officiating.
Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, Iowa.
Services were under the direction of Slininger-Rossow Funeral Homes of Jefferson, Iowa. Her Social Security Number was 481-34-7906 IA.
