9/17/2003 - A memorial service for Donald T. Ackley, 77, of Kennedy, who died Wednesday (Sept. 10, 2003), will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Soldiers' Circle, Lake View Cemetery. Pastor Edward Davis will preside. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Ackley, 77, of 5 Acorn St., died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 10, 20003) in WCA Hospital. An area resident most of his life, he was born April 5, 1926, in Wayland, N.Y., the son of Irving and Alice Thayer Ackley.
He attended schools in Wayland and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European and African Theatres and also during the Korean War. He was presently employed at the Ed Shultz Auto Group for the last 30 years and was a member of the Samuel Derby Post 556, American Legion.
He enjoyed reading westerns, fishing, and will sadly be missed for his popcorn and coffee at Ed Shultz. He dearly loved his dog, ''Munchkin.''
He is survived by his wife, Donna E. Matt Ackley, whom he married Sept. 28, 1996, in Kennedy; four daughters: Thelka Null and Helen Ackley, both of Mentor, Ohio, Donna Danford of Kingsville, Ohio, and Donna Walburn of Batavia, N.Y.; a son, Donald Myers of Geneseo, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Sharon Braswell of Chesapeake, Va.; a stepson, Jackie Morrison of Monroe, Va.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers: Burton and Larry Ackley, both of Jamestown, and Gordon Ackley of Bemus Point; and a sister, Doris Arnold of Hendersonville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley and Helen Ackley.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Soldiers Circle in Lake View Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
